It is also used to treat certain sexually transmitted infections (such as trichomoniasis). BACTRIM DS TABLET is a prescription medication that is typically taken twice a day for seven days. It is important to follow your doctor’s instructions when taking BACTRIM DS TABLET, as it may cause side effects such as diarrhea, nausea, and stomach upset. If you take BACTRIM DS TABLET more often, you may experience more side effects. These are generally less serious side effects of taking Bactrim, and more of a problem with your gut, which may lead to a faster heartbeat and possibly more frequent infections with the bacteria you are taking Bactrim for. If any of these serious side effects become evident, they may be treated symptomatically, such as surgery or radiation, or by changing your diet and lifestyle, such as eating a healthy diet and avoiding alcohol.

BACTRIM is an antibiotic. It is also sometimes used to treat a skin condition caused by bacteria calledCandidatus Neisseria gonorrhea. It is a type of antibiotic that works by killing and stopping the growth of bacteria. Objective:
The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of oral bactrim dosing in patients with renal disease on serum creatinine levels, creatinine clearance and the pharmacokinetic profile of bactrim dosed in patients with chronic renal disease.
Methods:
Twenty patients with chronic renal disease were included and their creatinine clearance (CLcr) was calculated using the Cockcroft-Gault formula, and the pharmacokinetic profile of the drug (CLK and CLP) were assessed.
Results:
In the group of patients with chronic renal disease, the mean CLcr in patients with renal insufficiency was significantly higher (p = 0.0063) than in patients with normal renal function (p = 0.0014), which was statistically significant in the group of patients with severe renal impairment. The mean CLcr in patients with severe renal impairment was significantly lower than in patients with normal renal function (p = 0.0174). The mean CLcr in patients with normal renal function was significantly lower than in patients with severe renal impairment (p = 0.0144).
Conclusion:
The pharmacokinetic profiles of bactrim dosed in patients with renal disease were similar to those of the pharmacokinetics of sulfamethoxazole (SMZ) in patients with chronic renal disease.
